World Report on languages design concept
The cover image represents a world of lights that show the diversity and geographic distribution of languages on the planet. The idea was to replace the traditional night vision of the terrestrial globe captured by satellite, which shows the concentration of energy consumed in cities. Our cover wants to capture the cultural diversity of living languages in a real geographic distribution very different from what we are used to seeing on maps. Each light is a language and also the hope that these cultures will not be extinguished.
La imagen de portada representa un mundo de luces que muestran la diversidad y distribución geográfica de las lenguas en el planeta. La idea era sustituir la tradicional visión nocturna del globo terrestre captada por satélite, que muestra la concentración de energía consumida en las ciudades. Nuestra portada quiere captar la diversidad cultural de las lenguas vivas en una distribución geográfica real muy distinta de la que estamos acostumbrados a ver en los mapas. Cada luz es una lengua y también la esperanza de que estas culturas no se extingan.
